Developing horizontal convection against stable temperature stratification in a rectangular container

چکیده
Developing stages of horizontal convection observed during transitions from conduction to thermally equilibrated states are studied with visualization experiments imposing horizontally differential heating at the top low-temperature water. Due absence destabilizing thermal sources, convective rolls, which localized on plane is imposed, formed only by baroclinic torque driving force against a braking due stable temperature stratification. We find nondimensional parameter for balance relaxing time and force.
